Last year, James Cox began working on a community garden which the Cathedral have kindly shared with The Light Project. The vision is a restored space where people can come and experience the healing and transformation of God in their own lives.

Over to James for an update:

“The garden is now heading into winter, but there is lots going on! We have recently skipped a huge amount of waste to help clear up our shed space and the garden in general. This has enabled us to make more bed space for growing and to start to organising the shed. The three fruit trees planted earlier in the year have now had time to establish and there are even some apples to harvest! The structure of the garden continues to develop with steps and pathways … but I hope to put in a patio area over winter or in the new year to enhance the meeting space where the Light Project team will be joining us for prayer and reflection on a Thursday morning”.

We have also made a connection with other groups in the City, such as a homeless project and a creative group who may use the garden therapeutically and provide some volunteers for the garden. In the New Year, the Chester students will also be using the garden more, both to practically help clear and plant in the garden as well as to use the space to pray and build community.
